We are Steph and Angie - sisters who love to scrapbook. We don't know design, we aren't color experts and we usually only get to scrapbook a few times a year. But, we love our families and scrapbooking our memories with them so here we are!

We'll try not to bog you down with long supply lists and explanations (half the time we can't remember what we used or it's such old stuff that you'd never find it anywhere anyway!)

Please feel free to "scrap-lift" any of our ideas that strike your fancy, and if you are a scrapbooker with your own blog, please link back to us!

Zipple Bay Adventure

My title is pieced together from several different sets of alpha stickers- a good way to use up letters.  I was happy to be able to use a "Z"!  Zipple Bay is a State Park a couple hours from where we live that we set out to explore one day.  Oh look, I used paper tearing on this page.  Maybe I need to broaden my technique horizon a bit!

I'm a Winner!

I was the lucky winner of the Scrapbook & Cards Today 2017 Creative Planner from Lisa Dickinson's blog back in November! It arrived in my mailbox yesterday and I can't wait to curl up with it.

I'm not sure I'll use the calendar part of it since I really like the calendar on my phone that syncs with my husband's for tracking our appointments and I'm still using a modified version of a bullet journal for my personal weekly task and progress tracking. But I know I will still get a lot out of this planner even if I only use it for strictly scrapbooking-related planning, notes, dates, etc. Plus I can't wait to peruse all the design tips, page sketches, story starters and other tidbits included in the planner!
Thank you Lisa and Scrapbook & Cards Today for the great prize!

Caden's Yurt Page 2015

In the summer of 2015 Caden got invited to go stay in a yurt with Angie, her kids and Grandma Linda.  They had so much fun that both families decided to give it a try in 2016 so look for those pages!  They did so much and there were so many pictures that it was hard to narrow it down and fit them all on his page so there are lots of pictures and not much else.  I was happy to be able to use my big corrugated letters for the title to break up the page a bit and add some pop!  I love these letters but it is hard to find pages to use them on- the titles have to be short and this one qualified.

Winter Drive

As you have probably noticed my family loves The North Shore of Lake Superior!  It is a whole new place to explore in the winter so one day last winter we loaded up the dogs and the only kid who wanted to adventure with us that day and headed out.  I feel very lucky to live close enough to be able to make day trips there even though it is a bit of a drive and makes for a long day.

If you know I love The North Shore you probably also know I love tearing paper.  And here is that technique again!  Lots of layers and texture seemed appropriate for this page.

Anniversary Vikings Game 2015

A very simple page that I added a bit of detail to by ripping paper and double matting my favorite photo from the day.  I have been trying to make sure I journal more on my pages so this page also has a nice big journaling area!  When I scrap I always think "it's self explanatory, I don't need to journal".  But details are easily forgotten.  I would encourage you to journal on all your pages!

My How They've Grown

This page showcases our Mastiff Mutts and how much they grew in just 4 months.  The paw print border was done with a stamp and I am thrilled to be able to use it on something other than sports pages (we are the Huskies)!  The rest of the page was designed from paper from my scrap file.  I used a paw print punch for labeling the photos with the month and how old the pups were.

Gavin & Caden's Room Re-Do

I did a page for each of my boys of their new bedroom.  They are identical except for the pictures.  I used a circle punch and more letters from my DCWV alpha punchouts for the title.  I added some detail to the circles with a "stitch technique" I added in with a Sharpie.  I also added detail to this page by using a corner punch on the photos and mats.  I love this corner punch but man does it make the pages hard to get into the page sleeves!  You have to be very careful not to catch the edges.

Mom & Kids Camping 2015

I don't think I will ever get over my love of paper tearing- it's just such a cool look!  I especially love the contrast between light and dark such as with the blue and yellow on this page.  My title letters are from a DCWV punch out alpha stack that I have used on probably hundreds of pages!  One of the best scrapping purchases I have ever made.

Jade's National Honor Society

A simple page featuring one group photo and Jade's certificate.  I used the certificate as a pocket and attached a piece of ribbon to the program for the event and slipped it onto the pocket.  This way the program doesn't take up space on the page but Jade will still have it to pull out and look at.  I also put her NHS pin on the page.  I simply cut off the post with a pair of wire cutters and glued it to the mat.

Jade's First Days of School 7th-12th

Another page that covers several years!  For this page I put 7-11th grade on the left hand page and then showcased the 1st day of Senior Year on the right hand page.  When I have only one photo on a page I almost always double or even triple mat it.  It makes it so much more substantial.  I used a single mat on the other pics and was able to use colorful paper from my scrap bin to match the crayon boarder on the paper. The stickers made it easy to label the pictures and I used the lower grades on Caden's 1st-6th grade page.

A Crowd of Christmas Cards

I spent quite a bit of time on Saturday in my happy place.
I am a kitchen-table scrapper which means all my stuff is usually packed away in two bins and I have to pull them out when I want to scrap. When I do haul it all out, I usually want to spend a good deal of time crafting so it's worth the hassle. :)

I think I made it worth it this time.  I completed 23 Christmas cards!

I've been scoring some great deals on peachycheap.com and steals.com over the last month or so. Several of them have been Christmas-themed items so I needed to use up some of what I already had
I have never had the desire to make all my Christmas cards. I enjoy ordering photo cards online.  But, since I had so many supplies to use up, I decided to just start creating and see what I could come up with. I have already sent our 2016 cards but I think I will be doing a couple more Christmas card making sessions during 2017 and then I should have enough to send all handmade cards next year!

North Shore/Gun Flint Day

Another one of our load up the car and take a drive adventure days.  I just hate it when I have a piece of paper that both sides of are cute. Which to use.....BOTH!  I haven't used this technique in awhile but it is a good one for being able to use both sides of a reversible 12x12 paper.  I just folded back one corner and secured it with a brad then pieced in another piece of paper to fill in the space left open and make it 12x12 again.

Gavin's Track 2016

It's a bit hard to get pictures at a track meet with kids running to events and in events!  Luckily my boys throw too and it's a bit easier to get their pictures doing that!  I like to scrap a few "action shots" along with the professional team and individual pictures that they have taken at school.  These come together as an 8X10 with a picture of the mascot or something on it but I cut out just the pictures to use so they fit on the page better.

Gavin's Science Fair

Well this page is a duplicate of Caden's page but I thought I should post since Gavin got first place that year too.  That year cost us dinner out after since we had 2 first place winners:)  Gavin's project was "Deflategate" based on the New England Patriots ball deflating fiasco.  He did experiments with footballs inflated to different psi's to see if it made a difference.

Album Upgrade

Whenever one of the kids' albums got filled to capacity, I just picked up whatever album struck my fancy and/or was on sale or I had a coupon for.  The last several I bought were Pioneer snap-load, fabric cover with ribbon trim.  The more I worked with them, the more I realized how much better I liked them than post-bound albums.  This, coupled with the fact that color-coded albums for each kid sounded glorious to me, convinced me to order several more of the Pioneer albums and re-book everything into them.

I had 14 albums before, all mis-matched, and I really didn't like the look of some of them. Here's a portion of what I had:

I found I could fit 35 pages into each album so I ended up paring the collection down to 8 full ones, with three in progress.  I bought one or two extras for each kid so hopefully I will be set for awhile now.
Ah...doesn't that look better?
All that's left to do with these completed albums is to label my spines somehow.  Any suggestions?

Gavin's Basketball 2015-16

And Bam!   Here Gavin is another year older playing basketball:)  Ang and I had decided we didn't want to blog our pages any more but we were still scrapping.  Then we decided to start blogging again so I am playing catch up and paying no attention to what order I am throwing these posts up in!  I cut the chevron stripes out of a sheet of 12x12 paper to make the design on this 2 page spread.  I used my paw punch to add the paws in the corners and  I love how it looks!  I also love how the title letters turned out.  I drew some "basketball stripes" on some of my DCWV punch out letters.

Gavin's Basketball 2014-15

There's a lot going on on this two page spread!  Paper tearing, banners, giant basketball and stickers. The giant basketball was a sheet of paper that I cut in half.  Not sure if I used the other half yet or not but you gotta love getting 2 big embellishments from one sheet of paper!

Gavin's Football 2015

Last year Gavin played on the JV team (or Bombers as it is called around here) and he suited up for the Varsity team so I decided to make a 2 page spread and put JV on one side and Varsity on the other.  I made the titles with some alpha stamps and the paw prints (we are the Huskies:) are also from a stamp.  I finished the page off with some stickers- the last I was willing to use on my pages from the set I had.  I waste a lot of stickers but I just can't bring myself to put stickers that say "All Star" (they aren't!) or "Quarterback" (my kids aren't quarterbacks!) on my pages.  Ang and I decided at our last scrap get together that the people who make these stickers really have no clue about the sports!  Maybe we'll design our own someday!
