We are Steph and Angie - sisters who love to scrapbook. We don't know design, we aren't color experts and we usually only get to scrapbook a few times a year. But, we love our families and scrapbooking our memories with them so here we are!

We'll try not to bog you down with long supply lists and explanations (half the time we can't remember what we used or it's such old stuff that you'd never find it anywhere anyway!)

Please feel free to "scrap-lift" any of our ideas that strike your fancy, and if you are a scrapbooker with your own blog, please link back to us!

Our Favorite Place to Scrap!

Deer right outside the window- not that we don't get that at home too but still......
A "Snow Owl" perched in a tree outside the window- yes it is actually just a pile of snow that looks remarkably like an owl!
Hard at work at Pine Knot.

Our aunt & uncle have a place ("Pine Knot" as they appropriately named it) on the Echo Trail in Ely, MN about a 2 hour drive from where we call home.  Their home is a lovely rustic cabin in the woods and above their garage are equally lovely guest quarters.  They are super hosts making sure we have everything we need and our uncle even helps shlep our not so light bins and totes of scrap supplies up the stairs to the guest quarters!  We try to make a weekend trek a couple times a year and haul all our supplies along for a few days of scrapping uninterrupted by housework, hubbies and kids!  We have a super time and get tons of scrapping done.  We have even taken some scrap breaks to enjoy some snowshoeing, saunaing, eating out and local festivals over the several weekends we have spent there so far.  We could not ask for a better place for some inspired scrapping weekends!

For the Love of Ramen

Here's another page based on a sketch from My Scraps & More.  This one is sketch #77
Bekah would eat Roast Beef flavored Ramen noodles every single day.  And that is not exaggerating.  I documented her love of high-sodium goodness on this layout using navy cardstock as my background and brown cardstock to highlight my title, as my photo mat and a mat for my journaling block.  The only patterned paper I used was this great noodle-like stuff from We R Memory Keepers' Happy Camper collection.  I silhouette-cut a few of the curls to accent my photo.  I had Bekah write the journaling for this page.

I find as the kids get older I have fewer photos of them to scrap so it's fun to remember to do the "everyday" things about them.

Stir Crazy

This is my very first time creating from a sketch and I had a great time and will definitely be doing it again!  This is based on sketch #78 at My Scraps & More.
I used papers from DCWV The Basics Stack, my trusty Woodsies alphas and just a few eyelets and baker's twine to finish off the page.

Alarik Summer

This is probably the final layout I'll make from the Fancy Pants Design Beach Bum collection.  As I said before, I definitely feel like I got my money's worth out of that kit.  These are three pictures of Alarik that I loved but hadn't managed to fit on any of his other pages, so I put them together on this fun summer page.  The metal letter stencils are from JoAnn Fabrics.

Gavin's D.A.R.E.Twins Game Trip

I do love the occasional cute accessories that I picked out specifically for a page but......that habit can make the hobby of scrapbooking way more expensive than it needs to be.  The most important thing is preserving memories not spending a fortune on things you will only use for one page!  That said I love to use free accessories such as tickets from events and things cut out of brochures or programs like I did on this page.  Besides those things and some paper out of my scrap bin I only used a sheet of baseball print paper that I ordered from scrapyourtrip.com.

A Haunting, A Hunting She Will Go

Bekah was a hunter for Halloween this past year which worked out great for me in two ways.
#1 - I did not have to spend any money on a costume for her since we have the camo and flannel wardrobe pieces covered already; and
#2 - it lent itself nicely to this clever title for her page.  I DO get sick of "Halloween 20__" as my page titles.
The supplies for this page are a bunch of old faithfuls, paper from DCWV Fall & Halloween Stack, punch out alphas from Colorbok, plain orange cardstock and some orange ribbon.  The top title is made with My Mind's Eye rub-ons.

Scott Halloween 2013

Scott's Halloween page is a background from DCWV The Basics Stack as well as some printed paper scraps from the Fall & Halloween Stack.  I matted those scraps, figured the HALLOWEEN in brackets served well enough for a title on this rather self-explanatory page, and so just added the date with alpha stickers in between.  I matted my main photo and flanked it with Scott in his ninja poses.  Easy. Squeezy. Done.

Kallinen Fall Fest 2013

Alarik Christmas 2013

You have to have read, probably, three of my page posts to know that I use papers from a DCWV stack on 90% of my pages.  I recently purhased Stack 8 and I love it.  The background paper and photo mats on this page are both from that.  My title and date are from Jenni Bowlin Studio's Star Banner Red Stickers.  I journaled on chalk tape by Fancy Pants which Steph ordered from peachycheap.com and we've both been loving.

Scott's Fall Page

Well, this paper and this technique should look familiar to you because it's the same as I did for Bekah's 3rd Grade page here.  I used a quieter main background page and then matted my photos with another leaf-print paper.  All papers, again, are from the DCWV Fall and Halloween Stack.  I found the kraft paper tags at JoAnn Fabrics and added a jute tie to the top of each one.

Gavin's Birthdays 2-10

I didn't start scrapping until my kids were a little older so this is another one of my "catch up" pages that spans several years.  I found this to be a good way to hit all the high points without getting too overwhelmed with everything I had to scrap.

Material:
candle paper- Paper Adventures
Metal #'s- JoAnn Fabrics
journal block and birthday and cake accents- Happy Day Flash Cards by Simple Stories

Simple Fall Page

For this very simple page of my kids outside on a beautiful fall day I used Harvest paper by WeR Memory Keepers.  I triple matted the photo with three colors of card stock, then used the lighter blue card stock again as a mat for my title.  I had these Sticker Studio alpha tag stickers from eons ago and they fit the page well, but I was missing an A.  No worries, I substituted a metal oak leaf charm and thanks to our marvelous human brains, it looks like the word, "FALL"!

Gavin's 1st Days of School 1st-6th Grade

I do a separate 1st day of Kindergarten page for each of my kids but don't want to do a page for EVERY 1st day so I do 1st-6th grades on one page.  Then I plan to do 7-12 on another page when they *sniff* get that old:(  Our school is very small and k-6 is elementary and 7-12 is high school so that's why this break down makes sense to me!

Materials:
background paper- Proud to Serve Stack by The Paper Studio.  This is a military themed stack but there are soooo many good papers in there that can be used for other things.
star print paper- Game Day by Jillibean Soup

I used a tag punch to quickly make the tags for this page.  I stamped on them and attached a brad to each one of the number ones.
